Alert Modelship Kit

The Custom's cutter Alert was used in pursuing smugglers along the coasts of the United States. To allow the boat to sail faster and closer to the wind, it was fitted with large sails and built with a wedge-shaped, deep hull. The Alert has been fitted with a rotating cannon located on deck mid-ship, giving a very good picture of what the boat's work involved. While this kit is relatively simple in design, it includes a large number of interesting details, enabling it to be turned into a real museum piece. This has helped the boat's designers to win a number of awards. Nevertheless, building the model remains a project within the reach of beginners, since the construction drawings and instructions are very detailed. The kit includes all frames, the hull and many bolsa wood parts which are laser pre-cut. The planking and the round pieces for mast and booms are of specially selected material. The set of fittings includes cast-metal parts, such as the cannon, rudder post, anchor and the blocks and tackle for the rigging. Various parts have also been etched in brass. The carefully put-together construction drawing with detailed instructions for assembly covers all questions. For newcomers, principles are also dealt with in detail. The set of sails is supplied separately as an accessory.
