In 1636 the Couronne was launched at the Dock of Laroche Bernard: She was built by the ship's carpenter Charles Morieur. Cardinal Richelieu has managed to conciliate the rival French port-towns and started a shipbuilding program to withstand the expected armed conflicts with the Spanish and English fleet. Especially he want to get a counterbalance to the "Sovereign of the Seas" which was built at the same time.With 72 cannons and 600 crew men the equipment of the Couronne was famous. But, for all that she it was said that the Couronne was very maneuverable.The kit is of prime quality. Large building plans in scale 1:1and various perspective drawings are supplied with the kit.
