KR-20159 HMS Greyhound Kit of an english frigate of 1720, scale 1:100 Product ID KR-20159
€ 159,00
The Greyhound, a remarkable 20-cannon frigate. after the plans from Stacey one built and ran on 13 February 1720 on threw from Deptford from the pile. Only little is delivered of their history on the seas, but may assume one rightfully that the Greyhound was used predominantly together with other, similarly developed ships in the fight against the pirates, which made the coasts of the Mediterranean uncertain at that time. However the results were in the fight against the piracy rather disappointing, because the extremely agile pirate ships, mostly equipped with 4-6 nose cannons, could attack the more ponderous frigates frontally and had in the engagements therefore mostly easier play. The time between 1600 and approx. 1700 meant the gradual end of this kind of ships, which are characterised by two rows rudders underneath the cannon batteries. The rudder places could be occupied at any time could, in order to have in such a way with maneuvers in low speed or with calm air still sufficiently mobility. The Greyhound had like by the way many ships the same epoch also a very elegant alignment, was prepared and nevertheless rather essentially decorated in detail. The reproduction of COREL on a scale 1:100 is the result of an extensive research work on the basis from old pressures, books and further models, which are issued in navigation museums. The extremely obliging/pleasing model stands on behalf for a historical epoch, to which it belonged.Technical Data: Scale 1:100Length 510 mmHeight 340 mmWidth 180 mm
